My Blog Anniversary

I couldn’t decide if this was actually my blogs anniversary. Like it’s definitely the anniversary of the first time I posted, but really this blog started months before when I came to the decision that I wanted to start a blog. My blog was created partially out of boredom. At this point in time I wasn’t doing a lot of things that I really wanted to do. I was going through the motions, first to class, then to my job, back to my internship and straight to cheer. I was really busy, and I think some people think being busy means that you aren’t bored. I had plenty of things to do but nothing I was really passionate about.

On the way to Palm Springs I paid an obnoxious amount for wifi and checked my email, I only had one, my acceptance to the Disney College Program! My blog and my DCP are so connected that you cant really talk about one without the other. Getting into the DCP was the final push I needed to actually create my blog. Before I got accepted I had no idea what I was going to write about, now I had a topic.

My blog at the beginning was a (unorganized, low key gross) blog spot site. I think it was TaylorbDCP.blogspot.com? It was actually alarmingly bad but I wrote on it for a month, no pictures, no spellcheck, no aesthetic, very raw but it made me realize that, at the very least, I had something to write about.

Phase two was a bit more planned out and required a lot of research. The product, in turn, was more polished and easier to navigate. I remember posting about my blog for the first time on my social media and thinking people were going tear it apart. It was kind of funny I had like 800 page views that first day and not one comment. That was my first glimpse into the feeling of blogging being a one way street. A lot of anonymous people poking around on my blog but never saying anything back. This is the struggle of the blogger! To get your audience engaged enough to respond to you!

(This is my first header, I really thought everything on my blog would be purple lol)

It’s a really weird relationship. But I love blogging. I am not an expert writer or photographer but I do my best and I am really proud of what I have been able to accomplish here!

Over the next week in honor of my blog anniversary I will be telling all of my tips and tricks for starting a blog, running social media, blog planning. So it will be a week all about blogging.

Thank you guys so much for joining me this year, it has been a wild ride, and I can’t wait for you to see more.

(This was my first profile photo that I used for all of my social media and about me, my hair was blonde and it looked weird so I photoshopped it brown, I also took this on my I Phone with a self timer because I didn’t have a camera and I guess I didn’t have any friends lol?)
